2.3.2 Specific Diseases
2.3.2.1 Carcasses affected with any one of the following diseases
shall be condemned:
a) avian leucosis complex;
b) botulism;
c) erysipelas;
d) listeriosis;
e) ornithosis;
f) paratyphoid; or
g) tuberculosis
2.3.2.2 Where a carcass shows only localised lesions and no
systemic disturbances caused by any disease other than
those mentioned in subparagraph 2.3.1.5, the effected
parts of the carcass shall be removed and condemned,
and the remainder of the carcass shall be passed for
human consumption if it is otherwise wholesome.
2.3.3 Condition Not Provided For
In the event of a condition not provided for under Meat
Inspection Rules 1985, the inspector-in-charge may
exercise his judgement in arriving at a decision as to the
eventual disposal of a diseased or contaminated carcass
or portion thereof.
2.3.4 Poultry meat which touches the floor, or any other part
of the plant, may matter or thing in the plant other than
the equipment by which it is being processed or the
material in which it is packaged shall be considered to
be contaminated.
2.3.5 Poultry meat which is contaminated shall not be used in
the preparation of poultry meat for human consumption
unless it is washed or trimmed, as the case may require,
to remove any contamination.
