Part 1 | Minimum Standards of Construction of Poultry Processing Premises 2.11 Further Ef uent Treatment Any additional ef uent treatment facilities should be located so as not to create an odour or other nuisance to processing areas. 2.12 Electrical Fittings Electrical pipe ttings should be installed at least 25mm from equipment or walls. Other electrical ttings such as switches, ducts, cable ladders and switches should be sealed to the wall or suf ciently clear to permit effective cleaning of the space between the tting and the wall. 2.13 Refrigeration 2.13.1 Where condensation is likely to lead to product contamination, effective means to con ne and remove the condensation should be provided. 2.13.2 Where overhead refrigeration facilities are installed, insulated drip pans, directly connected to the drainage system, should be placed beneath them. 2.13.3 Refrigeration motors should be located outside the premises except for other than a sealed unit which is an integral part of an appliance. 2.14 Pneumatics 2.14.1 Where practicable, the exhaust from air operated equipment should be piped to the exterior of processing buildings. 2.14.2 Oil from air exhausts should be adequately trapped to prevent contamination of product. 3.0 BASIC CONSTRUCTION 3.1 Introduction This section describes basic requirements to ensure sanitary construction of the interiors of production areas using acceptable non-toxic materials. 9
