Message from Director General
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
First and foremost, I would like to extend a warm welcome to MJVR readers to this online version of the journal. In providing frontline veterinary services in Malaysia, it is such a great pleasure for the Department of Veterinary Services to bi-annually publish our journal MJVR, as the platform to make known the researchers being carried out by our staff as well as others in the field. It is of utmost importance for our researches and stakeholders to update and be kept updated on current research and findings in the field so that new knowledge can be efficiently disseminated and adapted for use in the veterinary practice.
I would also like to take this opportunity to invite more researchers, locals and internationals alike, to send in your manuscripts for publication. Alas, what use is research, if the results stay only on the bench and not shared with others. I would like to encourage the culture of writing and publishing current information especially case studies of emerging and re-emerging diseases that have hit our shores, as well as analyses of the vast amount of data that our department is entrusted with, so that retrospective information is used wisely to mitigate future similar issues.
As the DVS is entrusted as guardians for providing safe food through farming healthy livestock, it is justified that information on current issues and studies done is available to scientists and the general public through publications from our department. This information is available through hard copy publications as well as online publication at our website http://www.dvs.gov.my. Do take the opportunity to check out our latest issue and get up to date on our research findings by Malaysian and foreign scientists in the field of Veterinary medicine and livestock farming.
